We’re opening the position of a Senior/Lead Automation QA Engineer to work on a project of our Customer – an international company that develops software solutions for small and mid-sized municipalities. The project focuses on a product suite that supports key local government operations, including finance, utility billing, HR, payroll, online payments, tax collection, and asset management.
A specialist for this role is being hired to grow an existing but underperforming test automation effort. The team needs someone who can independently assess what exists, validate it, and build a concrete plan to get the project back on track. This is a hands-on senior role, not a passive “define requirements and wait for someone else to execute them” position: the person is expected to dig in, verify current work, and start building.
Responsibilities:
- Audit and validate the current Playwright automation project; identify root causes of instability/underperformance
- Build and drive a concrete remediation plan to stabilize and improve the existing automated test suite
- Design and build out a proper automation framework with reliable, well-structured tests (not just “make it pass”)
- Lead and help grow a largely manual QA Team – organize QA Engineers, raise the bar on automation practices, and manage the transition/onboarding of QA Engineers over time
- Determine where automated tests should plug into the CI/CD pipeline and what should be prioritized for coverage and reporting, working with the team that owns pipeline infrastructure
- Work semi-independently: proactively review quality/test statistics and dashboards to identify problem areas rather than waiting solely on tickets from the Product Team
- Bring data-backed recommendations back to product/stakeholders on quality risks or gaps, and collaborate on prioritization rather than just executing a fixed list
- Explore and apply AI-assisted approaches to test creation and validation as the team builds out this capability
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Playwright with C#/.NET (used as a primary stack)
- Ability to work on UI testing for a Blazor Server web application (primary testing target) – mobile or API testing is not the main focus
- Ability to work on CI/CD pipeline integration – the candidate doesn’t need to own pipeline work directly (there’s existing support for that), but should understand what can/should be automated and integrated into the pipeline, and collaborate with the people who own it
- Familiarity with Azure (the project is hosted on Azure)
- Ability to leverage AI agents for test automation (test creation, test validation)
- English level – Upper-Intermediate or higher
Will be a plus:
- Knowledge of TypeScript
