Our client contracted Edvantis to develop a web application from scratch. The purpose of this application was to reduce paperwork and facilitate smooth communication between property owners/managers and professional landscapers. The application would allow the service provider to create and present proposals for landscape enhancements to property owners/managers to review and approve.
The Challenge
The primary need was for a minimum viable product (MVP) of a user-friendly and visually captivating platform that would seamlessly fit into the customer’s workflow, allowing them to create visual representations of their landscaping solutions. This had to be achieved while adhering to the strict requirement for an original product and constraints such as sensitivity to customer requirements, a tight timeframe, and a capped budget.
Technologies Used
Angular, Google Analytics, Firebase, Google Maps
Solutions Delivered by Edvantis
Edvantis acted as the primary tech expert, providing valuable advice to business-oriented company decision-makers on optimal delivery, the tech stack, and the software development life cycle (SDLC).
We assembled a team of five people, including a team lead, scrum master, UI/UX designer, quality assurance engineer, and a front-end developer. Together, they supported the end-to-end SDLC from requirements elicitation and MVP conceptualization to final product release and maintenance.
To deliver the MVP within the tight time frame, we chose Google’s app development platform, Firebase, for its ready-to-use features, and easy setup, that enable developers to build prototypes and applications quickly, reducing the total development time. Additionally, Firebase facilitates web application hosting and integration of other services, such as Google Analytics.
The Edvantis team utilized the following Firebase features:
- Firebase Firestore: A flexible scalable database for mobile, web, and server development, with advanced query capabilities, offline support, and automatic data synchronization.
- Cloud Functions for Firebase: A serverless framework, which allows running custom back-end code in response to events triggered by Firebase features and HTTPS requests.
- Cloud Storage for Firebase: Secure storage and serving of user-generated content such as images, videos, and other files.
We Achieved Great Results Together!
In only four months, the client received a fully functional MVP with a list of critical features, allowing them to test their product idea without making a significant investment.
Looking ahead, the client company plans to engage Edvantis for a new development phase to expand the platform’s functionality to meet go-to-market requirements.
Currently, Edvantis is managing the hosting, monitoring, alerting, and providing on-going technical support for the MVP application, ensuring its smooth operation, and addressing any issues that arise during user acceptance testing. In addition, we continuously add new features and enhancements based on user feedback.
The Edvantis team has also established a knowledge-sharing process, and we provide technical onboarding, as well as regularly updating the product development documentation.
