Adaptive Learning Application Re-Engineering for a Faith-tech Company

About the Client

Study Aloud is a faith-based startup headquartered in the USA. Their mission is to make the Bible more accessible and interactive for individuals worldwide. They sought to transform how people engage with Scripture by developing a personalized and adaptive learning platform.

With this vision in mind, the startup partnered with us to refine and enhance their existing iOS application to create an impactful tool for Bible enthusiasts.

Challenge

The client faced several roadblocks during the development of their iOS app, which delayed its release on the Apple Store. Upon contacting us, their primary challenges included:

• Missing features required for the app’s initial release
• Instability issues causing frequent app crashes
• Incomplete user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design
• Lack of a structured backlog for development

These problems made it hard for the app to give users the smooth and engaging learning experience the client wanted.

Team size and Composition

To address the challenges, we assembled a team of four experts, including a Tech Lead, a Senior Software Engineer, a Senior Test Engineer (part-time), and a Project Coordinator.

• Introduced a rich editing feature that allows users to highlight text, multi-select, and take notes within Scripture passages
• Set up a strong and easy-to-use system for working on the app
• Implemented Bookmark functionality to save selected sections for future reference
• Added functionality to share multiple Scriptures with a single tap
• Integrated translation support into the drawer for accessibility across multiple languages
• Enhanced journal and reflection journeys, including the addition of journal labeling for better user organization

Improved Navigation and Settings

• Redesigned notification, settings, and profile sections for higher usability

At the core of the platform is a personalized learning experience designed to help users engage with Scripture in a structured yet flexible way. The solution combines reading, note-taking, and reflection tools into a unified environment, allowing users to highlight passages, create notes, and organize their learning journeys. By integrating features such as bookmarking, content sharing, and multilingual support, the platform enables users to explore biblical content more interactively while maintaining continuity across devices and sessions.

After completing the project, we achieved several critical outcomes that brought the client closer to fulfilling their mission of providing a dynamic learning experience for Bible enthusiasts.
